Bermudas for every shape: how to choose the right style for your body type
•3 min read
It must be admitted: there are garments that adapt more easily to every body type and others that require a little more care. So, while palazzo pants suit both tall and shorter women, as well as those with soft curves and those who are a bit flatter, other types of pants are not so easy to wear. At least, if you can't find the right style.
Bermudas fall into this second category, so much so that some give up on them, thinking they cannot afford them. But that is wrong! You should never give up on anything, because every body type has its own strengths: you just need to know yourself and identify the cut that enhances your features.
So, if in summer you love wearing short pants, from bermudas to shorts, you should not avoid wearing them just because the image reflected in the mirror does not convince you, much less reserve them only for the beach. Bermudas are suitable for the city, leisure, and even work. You really just need to find the right style for you.
Bermudas wide at the hips: the classic cut
The most classic bermudas are those that widen slightly at the hips and then narrow towards the knee. This was the original style that British soldiers discovered in the Bermuda Islands, which give the garment its name.
The general description alone is enough to guess that they are not ideal for all those women who already have a few extra centimeters on their buttocks and hips, a female weak point, but rather for those who need to fill out a somewhat skinny figure.
This type of bermuda is therefore suitable for those who are thin and want to soften some sharp edges, while those with a curvy figure can opt for other styles, or wear the classic one with a long jacket that covers the roundest part. In short, you can wear anything, if you know how to do it and which tricks to adopt.
High-waisted bermudas
High-waisted bermudas and shorts are one of the current trends and it is no coincidence that they are so loved: they have the ability to elongate the figure. In fact, they help to flatten a little belly fat and fall more softly on the hips without widening them. Furthermore, they shift the waistline, giving the optical effect of having a few extra centimeters.
Those with elastic are also particularly comfortable to wear. If, instead, they have a button and zipper, always check that they fit comfortably to prevent them from being too tight, bothering the wearer and ruining the overall effect at first glance.
This style also suits rectangular bodies, with shoulders and hips of the same width. In this case, the best style is the one with a fabric belt to tie, thus making the waistline more harmonious.
Slim-leg and wide-leg bermudas
In the category of slim-leg bermudas are often denim ones, which tend to follow the straight line of the leg. These are the best for petite figures, those that hardly exceed 1 meter and 60 centimeters in height, because the resulting final effect is that of elongating the leg. It is better, instead, to avoid those that are too baggy or short, because they shorten the figure.
Slightly shorter bermudas – mid-thigh – and with a wide leg are instead ideal for women with a triangular figure, that is, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. In this case, it is necessary to harmonize the figure by giving balance, and shorts that widen rebalance the width of the shoulders.
Pockets
One of the characteristics of bermudas is having comfortable and spacious side pockets. However, if you have slightly wide hips, it is better to avoid this detail, opting instead for pants that have back pockets, or tight ones like in jeans.
Models with numerous large pockets, on the other hand, are always masculine. This does not mean that you cannot wear them, you just need to know that this will be the effect. On a slender and skinny figure, the masculine look will be accentuated. On a curvy figure, they could add a little to the figure. They should therefore be matched with great care or, in case of doubt, left in your partner's closet.
