The perfect outfit for work: useful tips
A trouser suit in dark tones and a white blouse: a simple, formal, elegant and comfortable look. Simple choice for the job yes, but still time for a change! The risk, when going to work every day in the same place, is to become habitual and wear a bit of the same clothes or otherwise have the same style. It goes without saying that one must respect oneself and one’s personality, but without lapsing into the banal.
So how do you get the perfect outfit for work? Here are useful tips so that you do not find yourself in trouble in the morning when getting ready and always feel at your best while doing your job.
1. Organise your wardrobe
The first tip is organisational and only indirectly involves clothes: organise your wardrobe. This means having order, which reflects a mental clarity that will help you in preparing your outfits. First, divide the garments according to the occasions of use: you will then immediately find that skirt you wear to the office without getting confused with that sequin dress you wear to the disco
Then organise a good rhythm when arranging the washed and ironed clothes. Put the ones you are storing further back, so as to make sure you have a spare; the risk otherwise is to find that you have shirts at the bottom of the drawer that you do not use for weeks, and keep wearing the same three or four alternating.
2. Focus on comfort
At work you need to feel comfortable, there is no question about that: so be careful about the right mix of elegance and comfort. This does not mean arriving at work in tracksuits and trainers, there is a limit to everything. Sneakers, however, are welcome, depending also on how you match them. If you chose jeans and trainers, then break up the ensemble with something more sophisticated on top: a slightly elegant blouse, perhaps in brightly coloured satin, will give that extra touch of sophistication that will balance the sporty footwear.
You can also opt for classic trousers and a V-neck sweater. In this case, accessories cannot be missing, be it a belt to mark the waist or a scarf around the neck; in short, something that does not make it too obvious.
Comfort, however, does not only mean trousers: choose if you want a skirt, preferably a flared one. The overused suit skirt also runs the risk of being tight and tying you up a bit in your movements: a wider skirt allows you the agility you may need to move between different rooms and run a few errands.
3. Shoes
In the collective imagination, the career woman is the one who wears stiletto-heeled pumps under a trouser suit. You can do it of course, but remember that such people exist mainly in films. In short, unless the environment you work in is really formal or fashion-related, you’d better opt for something more comfortable. We have already talked about snakers, but square-heeled ankle boots or ballet flats are also fine, from spring onwards.
With summer, sandals are just fine, any style, perhaps with a four centimetre square heel. Lower sandals are also OK, but beware of flip-flops or similar: they are too reminiscent of the beach and you risk lapsing too far into casual.
4. On the shoulders
In winter it is cold and in summer there is air conditioning: in short, something to put on your shoulders is always needed. Knitwear has come back into fashion in recent years, so an open cardigan is comfortable and respects the dictates of the catwalks. You can choose it in a maxi size, to be worn with jeans or trousers, or shorter, easier to wear under jackets, to be placed at the waist perhaps with ginna and boots.
For the summer season, the blazer is a classic. In order not to be too trivial, play with separates, even on colours: bright coloured jacket and trousers in dark tones, for example, but also the opposite. The opposite is also true: a white trouser in summer is perfect with an electric blue or fuchsia blaser.
5. Blouses
For the last tip we come to a must-have: the blouse. A classic white is always a must: wear it perhaps with jeans for both a casual and a smart look. Then change style often: there are short blouses at the waist, or laced up at the back like blouses; all will go well with classic trousers, always for a more personal touch to your outfit.
